Teaching about Climate Change: Our Time Is Now
Tuesday, October 22nd, 2019, 8:00AM-3:00PM, Erie 1 BOCES, 355 Harlem, W. Seneca, NY
About the Event:
Background and Rationale:
Given the severity of the climate conditions around the planet, this conference is predicated on the understanding that educators from all disciplines need to be empowered to teach about what is arguably the most important issue facing the world today.
Who can attend:
The conference is open to any secondary educator, administrator, or curriculum chair from any private or public institution. Seeing that climate change is a multifaceted topic, all applicants are encouraged--but not required--to apply with “teams” of their colleagues from other subjects.

Participants will receive:
-an understanding of the causes, ramifications, and solutions for climate change.
-standards-based educational best practices from local and national experts in the field.
-resources for how to weave climate into your curriculum.
-ways to inspire your students, school, and district to be part of the worldwide solution.
-strategies for how to guide the conversation and how to respond to climate denial.

-6 CTLE credits and a certificate of completion.
